President Obama is following in Bush/Cheney’s footsteps by escalating the war for oil in Afghanistan, adding another 30,000 troops on top of the 19,000 he sent last spring.

How many more people will die for the oil companies to make obscene profits?

The big prize in Afghanistan is the proposed pipeline that will access the central Asia oil and gas deposits. How many Americans have heard of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, which contain the world’s third-largest reserves of oil and natural gas (behind the Middle East and Russia)? That is the real reason that Obama is trying to neutralize that region, as there are few terrorists left in Afghanistan and that devastated Third World country poses no threat to the United States.

The oil companies rule Congress, as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi admits, and they have also corrupted the Obama administration. The silent majority must become vocal and active if we are to change the course of history away from endless war for oil.
